The Huawei P40 Series, Mate 30 Pro and Mate Xs can continue to access the world of apps through the Huawei AppGallery. Our P40 Series, Mate 30 Pro and Mate Xs continue to be covered by our manufacturer’s warranty and will receive full service support accordingly.

The new HUAWEI P40 Series / Mate 30 Pro / Mate Xs come with pre-installed Android 10 AOSP (Android Open Source Project) with EMUI10, Huawei’s self-developed platform.
The HUAWEI P40 Series, Mate 30 Pro and Mate Xs do not have GMS pre-installed due to the restrictions in place from the USA. Users will have access to the apps in the HUAWEI AppGallery which is pre-installed on Huawei smartphones or from elsewhere on the internet.
Some apps may not have been optimised by developers for Android AOSP, therefore individual app experiences can vary depending on the level of GMS integration into an app. However, we already have many apps available in the Huawei AppGallery, and other apps can easily be downloaded online.
We will continue to provide security updates to keep all Huawei devices secure.
The HUAWEI P40 Series, Mate 30 Pro and Mate Xs will have the full range of Huawei Mobile Services included, such as the Huawei AppGallery, Huawei Browser and the new Huawei Assistant. AppGallery features a four-layer detection mechanism to ensure that apps featured on the platform are safe to download and use. Consumers are free to download apps from elsewhere on the web, and be confident that all app downloads will be scanned by our built in virus scan.
In April 2018, the HUAWEI AppGallery was released globally and Huawei is continuing to develop its own ecosystem – Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) which has always welcomed global developers so together we can create a better experience for global consumers.
Based on Huawei’s all-scenario device strategy, Huawei Mobile Service (HMS) through its own apps and services, gathers global developer partners around the world to build an ecosystem for apps. These apps and services include portal services like HUAWEI AppGallery, HUAWEI Assistant and HUAWEI Browser; core services like HUAWEI Cloud, Huawei wallet and content services like HUAWEI Video, HUAWEI Music and Huawei Reader, as well as services for daily life, education and IoT, providing global users with a smart and high-quality lifestyle for all scenarios.
HMS incorporates Huawei’s chip, device and cloud capabilities, including a full portfolio of HMS Core services and related IDE tools and platforms for development and testing, along with key applications for Huawei devices such as HUAWEI AppGallery, HUAWEI Browser, HUAWEI Video and more.
HMS, together with third-party applications and services running on Huawei devices, is building the HMS ecosystem, an intelligent, mobile and interconnected ecosystem for Huawei users. HMS also provides developers with a platform that enables them to easily publish apps globally for all devices in all scenarios, so that they can focus on innovation and development.
Our Huawei AppGallery has over 390M active users in 170+ countries, so we believe it will offer people a great way to install the apps they want. The Huawei AppGallery also has over one million applications worldwide, and has had over 180 billion cumulative application downloads in the past year. Currently, there are more than 45,000 applications which can access HMS Core worldwide – a year on year increase of over 65%.
Yes, HUAWEI AppGallery is already available in more than 170 countries since the global launch in April 2018. Global developers are actively participating in the HMS ecosystem, with more and more applications being applied to the AppGallery.
Huawei Mobile Services is available to every Huawei customer in the world and there are many choices for consumers when it comes to the apps they use on a daily basis, including a variety of services for maps, email and video content. Customers are also free to download any other apps they wish to online.
Nothing has changed. Huawei provides after-sales service as before, in accordance with the existing warranty policy.
