The HUAWEI M-Pencil series stylus cannot be charged or cannot be fully charged

Problem
- The stylus cannot be charged, or there is no charging icon when the stylus is charging.

- The stylus cannot be fully charged.
Cause
- The stylus is stored in a thick case, which affects the wireless charging efficiency or even causes charging failures.
- The stylus is attached incorrectly.
- A non-Huawei folio cover or keyboard is installed on the tablet, causing magnetic interference, misalignment, or obstacles between the stylus and tablet.
- The tablet is not connected to a power adapter for charging and Smart charging is enabled for the stylus. As a result, the stylus cannot be charged or is not fully charged when attached to the tablet.
- If the battery level of the stylus is 80% or higher, the tablet will not charge the stylus when the stylus is attached to the tablet.
- When the battery level of the stylus drops below 80%, the tablet will resume charging the stylus to its capacity.
Solution
- To charge your stylus, take the case off from the stylus then attach the stylus to the tablet.
- Learn about the charging mode of the stylus by referring to Pairing my HUAWEI M-Pencil with a tablet. Attach the stylus to the correct position for charging.
- Attach to the stylus charger for charging:
- Attach the middle of the stylus notch to the charger, and connect the other end of the charger to the tablet, as shown in the following figure.
Connect the stylus charger to a paired tablet to charge the stylus. Do not use other charging devices to connect the stylus charger to charge the stylus.

- Attach the middle of the stylus notch to the charger, and connect the other end of the charger to the tablet, as shown in the following figure.
- Attach to the tablet for charging:
- Attach the stylus groove to the top of the tablet. The specific position may vary depending on the model. Move the stylus leftwards or rightwards to find the place with the greatest magnetic force and wait until the charging prompt is displayed.

- If a folio cover/protective case is installed on your tablet, remove it and perform step a to connect your stylus to your tablet. It is recommended that you use a Huawei official folio cover/keyboard.
- Attach the stylus groove to the top of the tablet. The specific position may vary depending on the model. Move the stylus leftwards or rightwards to find the place with the greatest magnetic force and wait until the charging prompt is displayed.
- Attach to the stylus charger for charging:
- For tablets that support the Smart charging feature (MatePad Pro 13.2-inch 2025, MatePad Pro 12.2-inch 2025, MatePad Pro 12.2-inch 2024, MatePad 11.5"S, MatePad Pro 13.2-inch 2023, MatePad Air, and MatePad Paper), perform the following steps:
- Disable Smart charging before attaching the stylus to the tablet for charging. To do so, take the following steps:
Open the Settings screen, search for "Stylus" and enter the Stylus screen, and disable Smart charging.

- Attach the stylus to a tablet connected to a power adapter to fully charge the stylus.
This solution does not apply to HUAWEI MatePad Paper.
- Disable Smart charging before attaching the stylus to the tablet for charging. To do so, take the following steps:
- Update your tablet to the latest version and try again.
