One image, a thousand words

HUAWEI's mobile photography prowess is more than just a piece of technology. It is a tool to unravel the hidden picture in a sharp image. With the tech giant’s artistic vision of redefining portrait photography, the human subject in every image reveals a wealth of untold, poignant stories.

The Untold Stories campaign examines the person in focus, blurring out all unnecessary details in the background through the HUAWEI P10’s compelling bokeh effect and powerfully vivid details. In a hundred portraits, a hundred pages of human experience come to light, captured by top local professional photographers, Dookie Ducay, Veejay Villafranca, and Larry Monserate Piojo.

The 100 Portraits taken with the HUAWEI P10 by local portrait experts, Veejay Villafranca, Larry Monserate Piojo and Dookie Ducay were showcased in an exhibit at the Experiential Area during the HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 Plus Grand Launch. Different booths built for taking low-light, bokeh, and monochrome portraits were staged around the area for guests to test the versatility of the second generation Leica dual camera technology of the new devices.

Their portraits tell of the tales of three groups in society: The Fighters who, despite living in the margins of society, still possess the resolve to make their dreams come true; the Outcasts, who are often the subject of judgment and ridicule, but whose attitude and determination match the strength and uniqueness of stark details in their faces and bodies; and the everyday Heroes, silent and unsung, forming society's backbone by fulfilling their duties that are often taken for granted.

A hundred portraits telling a hundred stories. A captivating breadth of human experience etched in sharp details, popping with the vivid color of emotion, captured through the HUAWEI P10's Leica co-engineered dual cameras. The collection of these compelling portraits may be viewed online via

One device, two epitomes of excellence

Befitting its status as a global, fashionable brand, HUAWEI is proud to announce its new ambassador of leading aesthetic excellence – Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. Pia exemplifies the stunning beauty and intriguing aptitude HUAWEI hopes to bring with its tech influence to the Philippines.

What attracted Pia to the HUAWEI brand is how she can relate to the company's attention to the small details; appreciating how subtle design touches evoke meaning and inspiration. Pia also fiercely believes in an evolving sense of style – she herself proclaims that her fashion consciousness is ever-changing, but never at the expense of comfort. True to form, Pia also believes that style is defined by one's personality.

The beauty queen and fashion icon in the making serves as an embodiment of the very heart of HUAWEI – the belief in making anything possible with persistence through any setback. As part of the Untold Stories campaign, Pia shares her excitement in unveiling her own personal tales of success and struggles like the Fighters featured in HUAWEI’s portrait campaign. “Before all this happened, I also considered myself as a fighter. I failed many times before Ms. Universe but I kept on trying and fighting because I knew that if I want to achieve great things or I want a better life, I have to do something to get closer to my goal. And I think that’s one lesson a lot of people should learn as Filipinos - that we’re deserving of better, greater things and that we’re capable of doing that. It’s all up to you,” she shares.

Touching on the HUAWEI P10's photography capabilities, Pia gushes about the very personal nature of a portrait, and how each successive shot reveals a different aspect of that subject. She should know, as Pia is proud of the honesty in her portraits, always conveying how she feels in a given shot.

The Miss Universe title holder loves the HUAWEI P10's monochrome and bokeh features, as she's very particular about capturing her smiles and of the people with her, highlighted with sharp focus cementing its reputation as the perfect device for capturing compelling portraits. “A portrait photo is really worth a thousand words because you can have so many interpretations on every subject, even how you take the photo tells a whole story. So that’s why I think it’s very personal. Like each photo is a part of you and is something you can always look back on. After a while and you look back at any portrait, a wave of memories instantly return,” she describes.

Sealing the deal, Pia connects with HUAWEI's no-compromise philosophy in aesthetic / performance on a personal level. Stemming from childhood life lessons, Pia deeply appreciates the value of doing the best you are capable of – a perfect match for HUAWEI's vision of excellence in mobile experiences.
