HUAWEI wins best manufacturer & hottest new phone at the Mobile Industry Awards 2018

June 8 2018, London, Huawei today announced that they have been awarded the Manufacturer of the Year and Hottest New Phone, for the Huawei P20 Pro, at the Mobile Industry Awards.  Voted for by members of the mobile industry, the awards are one of the most prestigious in the industry.

Huawei claimed the best manufacturer crown having beaten Samsung, who have won the award for the past 4 years. One of the most prestigious awards every year, this prize goes to the manufacturer who has not only excited the British public the most, but the one that has worked most effectively with its’ partners to sell devices. Awarded to the manufacturers who go above and beyond industry expectations, the win bolsters Huawei’s ongoing innovation and leadership in the industry. The judges said, “Huawei continues to go from strength to strength, with 2018 already a standout year for the firm with impressive new smartphones, and we are looking forward to seeing what's next.”

The Huawei P20 Pro was also crowned Hottest New Phone 2018, beating both the iPhone X and the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus.  The award is given to devices where design, innovation and story combine to make this a great time to be shopping for a mobile. The Huawei P20 Series has already seen great success, with the pre-order sales overtaking the P10 Series pre-order sales (originally launched in March 2017) by 249%, to become the most successful device ever sold by Huawei in Western Europe.

The judges commented, “The Huawei P20 Pro is the result of listening to partners and customers, and it's resulted in a phone with a beautiful design, fantastic cameras and a whole lot of power.”

Walter Ji, President of Consumer Business of Western Europe, Huawei, was also named in the 2018 Power 50 list - the definitive list of the most influential figures in the UK mobile industry during the past year.
