Huawei will give you a bunch of free stuff if you pre-order the HUAWEI WATCH GT 2e before the end of June
Tech-makers, from Apple to Samsung and everyone in between, are super-keen on keeping you in their own little ecosystems — which might prompt you to ask a few questions about ‘Why’. But if you’re not in a question-asking mood, you might want to check out Huawei’s latest attempt to bring you into the fold: a pre-order special for the HUAWEI WATCH GT 2e, which’ll net you a pair of Huawei Bluetooth sports headphones and a smart scale if you act fast (ish).
What’s the big deal?
Huawei really wants you to go out and buy its new HUAWEI WATCH GT 2e fitness tracker / smartwatch and they’re prepared to give away a few items to free to make that happen. Buyers who pre-order the device, either from Huawei’s own online store, or from Totalsports, Sportsmans Warehouse, Incredible Connection , Takealot, Makro or Game, for R3,500 will each get a free Huawei Smart Scale and a free set of Sport Lite Bluetooth Headphones thrown in. There is a catch, though. You’ve got to get that pre-order in by 30 June.
If pre-orders aren’t your thing, every purchase of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 2e will get a free set of Sport Lite headphones (if you order from MTN or Cell C in stores or from Telkom’s call centre) from 1 July. From 7 July, Vodacom and Cellucity come online with the same offer.
The HUAWEI WATCH GT 2e tracks more sports than you’re allowed to do at the moment (more than 100, though actually 15 — you’ll see), while tagging all the metrics you’re used to and a few you’re not. Huawei’s new heart-rate monitoring tech is onboard and promises to be faster and more accurate — a claim we’d love to test out. The device also offers sleep monitoring and blood-oxygen saturation — which is a great feature to have on your wrist in a time when respiratory disease is a serious issue. Battery life is supposed to be two weeks, which we can totally believe. Huawei’s wearables squeeze their batteries for all they’re worth.
