The Edge browser is automatically displayed when I open Internet Explorer on my HUAWEI computer

Problem

1. After a user opens Internet Explorer on their computer, the Edge browser is automatically displayed instead.
2. When a specific website is opened in Internet Explorer, the system switches to the Edge browser and the website is opened in the Edge browser instead.

Cause

1. Browser association is set in the Edge browser.
2. In Windows 11, some functions of Internet Explorer are integrated into Microsoft Edge, and Internet Explorer is no longer used independently.

Solution

For cause 1, perform the following operations:

1. Modify the default browser settings as follows:

   Solution 1:

   Open Microsoft Edge and click the three-dot icon in the upper right corner. Click Settings. On the displayed Settings tab page, click Default browser. In the .Internet Explorer compatibility area, set Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode to Don't allow and click Restart to restart the browser.

   Solution 2:

   1. In the search box in the lower left corner of the desktop, enter Control Panel and open it.
   2. Click Network and Internet.

   3. Click Internet Options.

   4. In the displayed dialog box, click the Advanced tab. Deselect Enable third-party browser extensions* under Browsing, click Apply in the lower right corner, and then click OK.

2. If the issue persists, uninstall the Internet Explorer and reinstall it. The procedure is as follows:
   1. Go to Settings > Applications > Application Management > Optional Features. In the Installed features area, find Internet Explorer and then click Uninstall to uninstall it.

   2. Restart the computer after the uninstallation is complete.
   3. After logging in to the system, go to Settings > Applications > Application Management > Optional Features. In the Add an optional feature area, search for and add Internet Explorer.
