Unable to connect my HUAWEI computer to a shared printer

Problem

The computer failed to connect to a shared printer. The shared printer can't be detected, or a message displays indicating a connection failure and an error code (0X***), when the user tries to connect the computer to the shared printer.

Cause

The network of the shared printer or computer is faulty, or the settings or system of the shared printer is incorrect.

Solution

Try the following solutions:

Assume that computer A is connected to the printer and computer B is not connected to the printer.

  1. Make sure that the printer connected to computer A is powered on and ready to work. Connect computer B to the printer by referring to Connecting my HUAWEI computer to a shared printer.
  2. Restart the printing service items on computers A and B. To do so, download Script.zip, save it to the desktop of the computers, decompress the script file, and right-click Run as administrator. After the running is complete, restart the computers.
  3. To ensure system stability, it is recommended that you back up important data and update computer B to the latest version by referring to Updating the Windows system. After the update is complete, reconnect computer B to the printer by referring to Connecting my HUAWEI computer to a shared printer.
  1. Use the printer repair tool to repair the system. To do so, perform the following operations:
    1. Download the Shared Printer Repair Tool.zip, and decompress the tool.
    2. Go to Settings > System > About to view the Windows system version.
    3. Select the printer repair tool that suits the Windows system version, and run the fix-printer.bat file as the administrator.
    4. After the repair is complete, immediately restart the computer and reconnect it to the printer.
  2. If your computer's Windows system version is 22H2, press Win+R to open the Run dialog box, type regedit in Run dialog box, and press Enter to open Windows Registry Editor.

To prevent risks caused by incorrect registry modification, back up the registry data in advance by referring to Backing up and restoring the registry data on a Windows computer.

    1. Locate Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print in the registry.

    2. Right-click in the blank area, choose DWORD (32-bit) Value from the shortcut menu, and name the item RpcAuthnLevelPrivacyEnabled. Then, double-click the item, and set the value to 0.

    3. After the settings are complete, touch OK to save the settings and exit. After the registry is modified, follow step 4 to download the printer repair tool to repair the system. After the system repair is complete, immediately restart the computer and connect it to the shared printer.
  3. Use the user name of computer A to access the shared printer.
  4. Add a share name GUEST on the computer. To do so, go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Credential Manager, and select Windows Credentials to add Windows credentials. Enter the IP address of the shared printer server in the Internet address or network address text box, set the user name to GUEST, leave the password blank, and restart the PC.
