The location icon keeps appearing in the status bar on my HUAWEI phone/tablet

Problem:

The location icon repeatedly appears on the status bar of the phone/tablet and then disappears.

Cause:

Certain apps using your location information may enable or periodically invoke the GPS function (for example, weather apps).

Solution:

  1. Open Settings, search for Location, and go to Access my location or Access location to view which apps recently sent location requests. You can disable the location permission for apps as needed.
  2. Check whether a wearable device is used. When the wearable device disconnects, it will automatically request the location service and display the location icon.
  3. Clear background apps that are not in use. If an app keeps running in the background, the location icon will also be displayed in the status bar. If you do not wish to display the location icon, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to enter the recent task screen and clear unnecessary location apps (for example, map navigation apps and certain third-party apps that request to access location information, such as TikTok and Toutiao).

The location information is mandatory for certain apps, such as map & navigation apps, weather apps, and food delivery apps. Disabling the location permission for such apps may result in them failing to work as intended.
