Updating to a higher version of Windows |
Your computer is preinstalled with Windows 10 Home. Microsoft regularly launches new versions of Windows in order to improve certain functions.
You can manually update the Windows system when you receive the update package. The following is an example of updating Windows 10 to Windows version 1803 (RS4).
- If you do not receive a system update notification but want to update your computer to the latest version, you can visit the Microsoft official website https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 and follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the latest version. (Note: This method is not applicable to HUAWEI MateBook E 2019.)
- System update normally will not cause the loss of your file. However, to prevent anything unexpectedly happens, back up important files to an external device.
I. Checking which version of Windows you are using
- Click the Windows icon and then the Settings icon, then select System.
- Click About to check the system's current Windows version. If your computer is running Windows version 1803, you do not have to update your system. If not, update the system.
II. Using Windows Update to update your system
- Confirm that your computer is connected to a stable network. A weak or unstable network connection may cause the update to fail.
- Click the Windows icon and then the Settings icon, then select Update & Security.
- Go toWindows Update > Check for Updates. The system will automatically download and install the updated Windows version. (You can find the information displayed indicating that Windows version 1803 is available for Windows 10).
- Download the updated version.
- Install the updated version.
- A message will pop up asking you to restart your computer after the update package has been installed.
- Click Restart Now to restart the system. A message will pop up informing you that the system may need to restart multiple times in order to complete the update. Please ensure that your computer remains connected to a power source throughout the entire restart process. Also, do not force shut down the computer during the restart process.
- After your computer restarts, the system setup screen will be displayed. Follow the onscreen instructions to log in to the system and complete the update.
III. Confirming the Windows version after the update has been completed
Click the Windows icon and then the Settings icon, and go to System > About to confirm the current Windows version in operation.
Thanks for your feedback.
