What is 4G+?

4G+, also know as LTE-A, LTE- Advanced or 4.5G, is a faster version of 4G.

It uses carrier aggregation to increase the transmission bandwidth, by allowing 4G devices to receive data from multiple bands.

What are the functions of 4G+?

While standard 4G only uses one band at a time, 4G+ can use and combine several bands for a higher service bandwidth and increased network speed. If we compare a 4G network to a one-lane road, then a 4G+ network can be seen as a two to five-lane highway.

The 4G+ network capacity depends on the network conditions and the device capabilities.

Is the 4G+ network always faster than the 4G network?

4G+ networks are a lot faster than 4G ones when downloading a large amount of data.

But the transmission rate of a 4G network is enough for low rate data services, such as browsing thorough the Internet, so the 4G+ will not take effect in those scenarios

Furthering the analogy, low data rate services are similar to a vehicle, for which a one-lane road is sufficient, as its speed is not affected by the absence of additional lanes.

How do I enable 4G+?

To enable 4G+, swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel, touch and hold the Mobile data icon to enter the settings screen, and activate LTE carrier aggregation.
