Moisture, foreign objects, or a non-standard device has been detected in the USB/charging port

Problem:

When the phone is connected to a charger, a headset, a computer USB port, or a power bank, a message is displayed on the phone, indicating that an incompatible device has been detected or that there is moisture, liquid, or foreign objects in the charging port.

Cause:

Your phone's charging port may become corroded if water or other liquid enters it. If this occurs, your phone will temporarily disable headset functions, super fast charging, and USB connectivity for safety reasons. At the same time, a message will be displayed, indicating that a non-Huawei charging cable is inserted or the charging cable is damaged.

Solution:

  1. If there is liquid in the charging port, move your phone to a dry and well-ventilated place, then clean the charging port with paper tissue. Make sure that your phone is powered off. Remove any SIM and memory cards. Do not use the charging port in the next 4 hours to allow it to fully dry.
  2. If there are foreign objects in the charging port, ensure that your phone is powered off and then remove the foreign objects with paper tissue or cloth (be careful not to leave any paper residue). Restart your phone and check whether the issue is resolved.
  1. Use a Huawei USB Type-C data cable or adapter, and try again. Other data cables may be incompatible with your phone.
  2. Update your phone to the latest system version and try again.

If the issue persists or the charging port is corroded, back up your data and take your phone and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
