AI Voice on my HUAWEI phone/tablet doesn't respond to or responds slowly to wakeup phrases

If AI Voice (previously known as HiVoice) doesn't respond to or responds slowly to your wakeup phrases, try the following methods.

1. Check whether Voice wakeup has been enabled

Open Settings, search for and touch Voice wakeup, and enable Voice wakeup. Follow the onscreen instructions to enroll a wakeup phrase.

If you cannot find Voice wakeup in Settings, it indicates that this feature is not supported on your device.

2. Delete AI Voice data or restart the device

  1. You can delete the AI Voice data first.
    • Method 1: Open Settings, then search for and touch Apps. Touch the icon in the upper right corner of the screen, touch Show system processes, locate AI Voice, and go to Storage > CLEAR DATA.
    • Method 2: Open Settings, then search for and touch Apps. Touch the icon in the upper right corner of the screen, touch Show system processes, locate AI Voice, and go to Storage > CLEAR DATA.
  2. After deleting the data, enroll a wakeup phrase in a quiet environment and try voice wakeup again.

Deleting AI Voice data will delete all the previous settings.

3. Restart your phone and check whether voice wakeup works properly. If not, repeat step 3 (re-enroll a wakeup phrase) and try voice wakeup again.

3. Re-enroll a wakeup phrase

Open Settings, search for and touch Voice wakeup, touch Wakeup phrase training or Wakeup phrase, and enroll a wakeup phrase again. Precautions for enrolling wakeup phrases:

  • Please enroll wakeup phrases in a quiet environment. Raise your device to a 45-degree angle and hold it 20–40 cm away from your mouth. Speak at a natural speed and in a natural tone.
  • Ensure that the microphone hole is not blocked by the protective case or any foreign objects.
  • Talk directly at the microphone of your device. Do not talk to the microphone of your wired or Bluetooth headset.
  • Talk at an appropriate volume and express yourself clearly.
  • It is recommended that you try waking up your device within 2 meters of it (though the maximum supported range is about 3 meters).
  • For the best results, pause for a moment after you say the wakeup phrase, then give your voice command.

4. Check whether the microphones are working properly

Open the My HUAWEI app, go to Support > Checkup > Start (or open My HUAWEI, go to Support > Checkup & help > Start), and follow the onscreen instructions to rectify the fault. The following figure shows the procedure, which may vary depending on the product model.

  • If the issue lies with the microphones, back up your data and take your device and purchase invoice to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
  • If the microphones are working normally, follow the troubleshooting steps below.

5. If the issue remains unresolved

If the issue persists or you encounter any difficulties, please contact the Huawei customer service hotline for assistance. We will do our best to address your needs.
