Back Up with a Memory Card

Insert a memory card in your phone so you can conveniently back up your data to keep it safe.

  1. Go to Settings > System & updates > Backup & restore > Data backup, and touch .

  2. Touch , select the data you want to back up, then touch .

  3. A prompt will appear asking whether you would like to encrypt your backup.
    • If you choose to encrypt your backup, touch , enable , then set a password. This password will be required if you want to restore your data backup.

    • If you choose not to encrypt your backup, touch .

  4. After the backup is complete, you can find your data backup in the Huawei or backup folder in .

You can go to the backup screen and enable . Your phone will then automatically back up your data every seven days when it is being charged, the screen is turned off, and the battery level is at least 75%.

Restore Your Backup from a Memory Card

  1. Go to Settings > System & updates > Backup & restore > Data backup, and touch .

  2. Select the backup you want to restore from the list.

  3. Select the data you want restore, then touch .

    If the backup has been encrypted, you will need to enter a password to restore it.

Back Up with a USB Storage Device

In case of insufficient storage space on your phone, you can back up large files and any data on a USB storage device, such as a USB flash drive or card reader.

  1. Connect your phone to a USB storage device via a USB OTG cable.
  2. On the screen of your phone, touch .
  3. Touch , select the data you want to back up, then touch .
  4. A prompt will appear asking whether you would like to encrypt your backup.
    • If you choose to encrypt your backup, touch , enable , then set a password. This password will be required if you want to restore your data backup.

    • If you choose not to encrypt your backup, touch .

Restore Your Data from a USB Storage Device

  1. Connect your phone to a USB storage device via a USB OTG cable.

  2. On the screen of your phone, touch .

  3. Select the backup you want to restore from the list.

Back Up with a NAS Device

You can back up your important data on a network-attached storage (NAS) device, also known as a private cloud storage server. The NAS device provides shared folders for data backup.

  1. On the screen of your phone, touch .

  2. On your phone, scan for available NAS devices on your Wi-Fi network, then touch an applicable one to access and add its shared folders.

  3. Touch , select the data you want to back up, then touch .

  4. A prompt will appear asking whether you would like to encrypt your backup.
    • If you choose to encrypt your backup, touch , enable , then set a password. This password will be required if you want to restore your data backup.

    • If you choose not to encrypt your backup, touch .

Restore Your Data from an NAS Device

  1. On the screen of your phone, touch .

  2. On your phone, scan for available NAS devices on your Wi-Fi network, then touch an applicable one to access and add its shared folders.

  3. Select the backup you want to restore from the list.

  4. Select the data you want restore, then touch .

    If the backup has been encrypted, you will need to enter a password to restore it.
