The full charge capacity of the battery is less than the design capacity after my HUAWEI laptop is charged to 100% |
Problem
- The user charges their computer to 100%, starts the system, runs cmd.exe as an administrator, enters "powercfg/batteryreport", and collects battery information. In batteryreport.html, they find that FULL CHARGE CAPACITY is less than DESIGN CAPACITY.
- The battery level of a new device displays 100% when it is fully charged. However, Battery report, LuDaShi, or other test tools show that the battery capacity is only 70% to 80% of the design capacity. And the battery health is poor.
Cause
The design capacity is a calibration value under a standard condition, while the full charge capacity is a variable value affected by battery usage environment conditions (such as temperature). The full charge capacity may change frequently during the entire usage process. The full charge capacity may be less than the design capacity. When the battery detects that the battery temperature is higher than 45°C, the full charge capacity may decrease and be lower than the design capacity. This is a normal phenomenon, and a self-protection mechanism of the lithium battery.
Solution
- It is recommended that you lower the computer temperature to the normal temperature and then connect the computer to a power adapter for charging. After the battery level is displayed as 100% in the lower right corner of the screen, continue charging for about 2 hours. Then check the full charge capacity and design capacity again. In this way, the displayed full charge capacity is more accurate.
