My HUAWEI phone/tablet is unable to provide an accurate location or navigate

Enable Airplane mode first and then disable it immediately

Network instability in some areas may cause network search errors. In this case, swipe down from the upper right corner of the phone/tablet screen to access Control Panel, enable Airplane mode, and then disable it immediately. This will allow the device to reconnect to the network.

Impact of location simulation software

The location simulation software uses virtual locations. After the software is enabled, the positioning result of the phone/tablet will be affected. If the location simulation is not exited properly, the phone/tablet will display a message indicating that the GPS signal is weak from time to time. It is recommended that you exit the location simulation software immediately after using it. You can uninstall the location simulation software as needed.

Geographical factors

  • High-rise buildings, densely situated buildings, roofs, and walls will affect GPS signals, resulting in inaccurate positioning. You are advised to connect your phone to a WLAN network or move your phone to an open area to receive better signal.

  • The signal quality is usually poor in enclosed or confined places, such as tunnels, elevated roads, or mountainous areas, or when driving at a high speed. The GPS signal will return to normal once you leave these places. Try restarting your phone/tablet if the GPS signal remains weak at all times.

Whether the location switch and location permission are enabled

Check whether the app you are using is allowed to obtain your phone's location. To do so, open Settings on the phone/tablet, enter Permission Management in the search bar to access the app screen, touch the app that cannot locate or navigate, enable the Location permission, and turn on the Precise location switch.

Check whether the following settings are correctly configured on the phone/tablet

  • Ensure that the Internet connection on the phone/tablet is normal, then ensure that Location is enabled by swiping down on the screen to display Control Panel.
  • Check the location settings on the phone/tablet as follows: To do so, open Settings on the phone/tablet, enter Permission Management in the search bar to access the app screen, touch Location, then touch the app that cannot locate or navigate. Enable the Location permission for the app, and turn on the Precise location switch.

Ensure that no non-official metal or magnetic protective case is used

If you are using a magnetic case, a metal case, or a magnetic device holder (such as a suction bracket or cup), take your device out of the case or the device holder and try again. Metal or magnetic materials may interfere with and block GPS signals, thereby affecting signal quality.

Use a third-party location app for comparison

  • If the satellite signal is still weak, download the GNSS Status app from AppGallery.
  • Go to an open outdoor area without obstacles, open the GNSS Status app, and go to the satellite view screen. If the number of available satellites (a larger numeric value indicates a better positioning effect) in the lower right corner of the screen is always less than 4 or 0, it is recommended that you visit a Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.

If the issue persists, back up your data in advance and take your device and proof of purchase to a nearby Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
