Huawei Qatar Social Media Privacy Notice
This privacy notice informs you about how and why the social media accounts / pages are provided to you by Huawei Technologies LLC, a company incorporated in PO Box 20968, 5th Floor, UDC tower, Building No.122, Zone 66, Street No.100, Doha with registered number 90275 (hereinafter referred to as "Huawei", "we", "us", or "our"). Below, you will find information on what kind of personal data we process, why we do it, what we use it for and how we may share it.
This Privacy Notice describes:
1. Data Controller
Huawei is, jointly with the operators of social media platforms
[Facebook/X/Instagram/YouTube/TikTok/LinkedIn] (hereinafter referred to as “Social Media Platforms” or “Platforms”), the data controllers of your personal data when you use the Huawei Pages respectively.
Please note that the privacy policies of the Platforms also apply to the data processing within the framework of the Social Media Platforms. Further information on how these Platforms process your personal data, including the legal basis they rely on and the approaches to exercise your rights against them, can be found via:

2. Purpose and Legal Basis
Your data is processed to provide you with the social media pages, and to make the pages more attractive and suitable for our users, as well as to confirm the right time and scope of our publications. We also process your personal data in order to respond to your queries if you send us a direct message through these pages. The processing is based on our legitimate interest in operating this page.
3. Data Categories
a) Non-personally identifiable usage and performance statistics.
As part of the operation of the pages, we are able to access statistical data of different categories from the Platforms. This involves data of both registered and unregistered users. We only receive anonymous data about you via the Platforms, but the Platforms do also process personal data on their own.
We are able to access the following statistical data: Total number of page views, “Like” information, page activities, post interactions, video views, scope of the posts, comments, shared content, responses, proportion of men and women, origin by country and city, language, views and clicks in shops, clicks on route planners and clicks on phone numbers.
b) Personal data
We also process your personal data where you interact with us directly, for example, post on our wall or send us a private message regarding an inquiry or issue. The personal data we will process will depend on your particular interaction or query but may include: Social Media Username; Issue / Inquiry; Details of your Huawei device you queried about; Name and Contact Details.
We will collect and use your personal data only for the purposes stated in this notice.
Please also consider the abovementioned data policy of the Social Media Platforms to be additionally applied here for the data processing activities.
4. Data Retention Period
We retain your personal data for up to 6 months. After the retention period expires, we will delete or anonymize your personal data, unless otherwise required by laws and regulations.
The deletion of the comments and other interactions you left on these platforms is governed by the data protection guidelines of the platform operators as mentioned above.
5. Data Transfer and Disclosure
We process your personal data within Qatar, which is deemed to provide an adequate level of protection for personal data. Huawei complies with all applicable legal requirements to safeguard your personal data transferred outside of Qatar.
Sharing within group companies: To fulfill the purposes above-mentioned, we may share your personal data within our group companies. Huawei has implemented global privacy practices for processing personal data protected under various data protection laws. Huawei transfers personal data between the countries in which we operate in accordance with the standards and conditions of applicable data protection laws, including standards and conditions related to security and processing.
Sharing with third parties: We may share your personal data with logistics providers to deliver or collect devices or gift to/from you.
We may share your personal data to meet requirements of applicable law and regulation, in response to requests from regulators, courts or government agencies, or to establish or defend our legal rights.
Please note that your use of the fan pages may also involve data processing operations of the social media platforms outside Qatar. The data protection guidelines of platform operators apply here. In addition, due to the nature of the Internet, contributions published by you on this or other pages of the social media platforms are available worldwide.
6. Data Subject Rights
You have the following rights and choices:
- Right of access by the data subject
- Right to rectification
- Right to erasure (‘right to be forgotten’)
- Right to restriction of processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to object

7. Social Media Prize Giveaway
Participation in a giveaway is free of charge and participants are not obligated to make any purchases. The giveaway is hosted solely by Huawei, and it is not sponsored, endorsed, or administrated by, or associated with, as applicable, with any social media platforms.
PARTICIPATION ELIGABILITY
To participate in the giveaway, you must
a) be at least 18 years of age,
b) live in Qatar,
c) not be a Huawei employee.
By participating in the giveaway, you confirm and warrant that you fulfill these conditions. Should it come to Huawei’s attention that that you have entered the giveaway despite not fulfilling these conditions, Huawei reserves the right to exclude you from participation and you will not be eligible to be drawn as the winner of the giveaway.
For prize promotions on our social media pages, the data within the prize promotion is processed for the purpose of conducting the respective prize promotions. The legal basis for the data processing is the fulfilment of contract (prize promotion terms and conditions) and the legitimate interest (provided that your interests and fundamental rights do not override such interests).
We would only process the data you provide for the purpose of prize promotions and/or what is necessary for the conduct of the prize promotion. This concerns in particular:
- User Profile to determine the winner
- Contact Details to deliver the prizes (name, phone number, email address, address)
- Any additional information relevant to the prize promotion (e.g. date of birth, identity information, previous participations, etc.)
There is no legal obligation for you to provide the data; however, failure to submit the information will result in us being unable to consider you as a candidate when awarding prizes. All data will be retained for a period of 6 months from the closing date of the prize promotion and will then be deleted unless there is a legal obligation to store them.
We may also transfer your data in some cases to service providers who are directly involved in the prize promotion as a partner or who are processing the data on our behalf.
Please note that your use of the social media pages may also involve data processing operations of the social media platforms. The deletion of the comments and other interactions you left on these platforms is governed by the data protection guidelines of the platform operators as mentioned above.
