A startup message with orange, yellow, or red text is displayed after my HUAWEI phone/tablet is powered on

Problem:

After the device is powered on, a startup message with orange, yellow, or red text is displayed, as shown in the following figures.

Cause:

Solution:

  1. Press the Power button to access the home screen. If the home screen can be accessed, it is recommended that you back up your important data. Then update your device system to the latest version: Open Settings, search for Update, go to > Download latest full package, and then follow the onscreen instructions.

EMUI 9.0 and later versions don't support Download latest full package, and you will need to restore the device system using system recovery mode.

  2. If you cannot access the home screen, use system recovery mode or HiSuite to restore the system:

Please note that your personal data may be erased during this process. Please exercise caution when doing so. Back up your important data first if your device can be powered on.

1. Repair the system via system recovery mode.
  1. Power off your device and connect it to a computer or charger using a USB cable. Simultaneously press and hold the Volume up button and Power button for about 15 seconds and your device will automatically restart and enter Huawei system recovery mode. You can then download the latest version and restore your device system as prompted. (To enter system recovery mode on Mate 30 Pro/Mate 30 RS, power on the device and then press the Power button five consecutive times after the device vibrates.)
  2. After the system is restored, the device will start to scan for Wi-Fi hotspots.
  3. Touch the blue Wi-Fi icon or turn on the switch to select an available Wi-Fi hotspot. Enter the password to connect to the Wi-Fi network. (The switch will only appear if you have previously connected to the Wi-Fi hotspot.)
  4. The system will automatically obtain and download the installation package. This may take a while. Please wait patiently.
  5. The system will then automatically update and a countdown will be displayed to indicate how long it will be before your device restarts.
2. Use HiSuite to restore the system
  1. Install the latest version of HiSuite on your computer.
  2. Power off your device (press and hold the Power button to forcibly power it off). Connect it to a computer using a USB cable, and simultaneously press and hold the Volume down button and Power button for several seconds to enter Fastboot mode (with a robot screen displayed). For devices that come with no Volume button, such as Mate 30 Pro/Mate 30 RS, power off the device, connect it to a computer using a USB data cable, press and hold the Power button for three to five consecutive times. The screen will turn on after several seconds, indicating the device is in Fastboot mode (with a robot screen displayed).
  3. Go to HiSuite > System recovery > Continue > Recover.
  4. Wait until the restoration is complete. The system will be restored to a default version.
  5. Your device will automatically restart and enter the home screen. This may take a short while to complete.

Do not disconnect the USB cable, power off or restart your device, or remove or insert an SD card during the recovery process.

If the issue persists

If the problem remains unresolved or you encounter any difficulties, back up your data, and bring your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
