The front camera won't focus properly or the images are blurry

There are several reasons why the front camera won't focus or takes blurry images. Please find below some of the most common issues and their possible solutions.

1. The front camera may be smudged or have dust on it. If so, use a soft microfiber cloth to clean it before trying to take pictures again.

2. Screen protectors or foreign objects may affect the performance of the camera, causing lens flare, ghosting or blur when shooting in low-light conditions.

Also, they may interfere with the focus process, resulting in grainy of blurry pictures. Please do not block the front camera when applying a screen protector, even if it is a transparent one.

We recommend using only HUAWEI official screen protectors or screen protectors with an opening for the front camera.

3. Some smartphone models feature a front camera that supports only a fixed focal length (FF). These cameras are different from the automatic focus (AF) cameras. AF cameras can adjust the focusing distance and take clear photos of both near or distant objects, within a certain effective range. FF cameras cannot adjust the focusing distance and they can focus properly only when taking selfies.

If your front camera supports only fixed focus, it is recommended that you take photos from a suitable range, within 25–50 cm (10–20 in.).

If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof-of-purchase to an authorised HUAWEI Customer Service Centre or contact HUAWEI Customer Services for further assistance.
