My desktop icons are not displayed

1. If your computer runs Windows 10:

  • If only the system icons (such as the icons of or ) cannot be found, it may be because you have not set the icons to be displayed on the desktop. In this case, perform the following steps:
    1. Right-click a blank area on the desktop, select from the shortcut menu, and go to Themes > Desktop icon settings.

    2. Select some of the options in the Desktop Icons bar based on your preferences.

  • If all of the desktop icons disappear, they may have been hidden. Right-click a blank area on the desktop, select View from the shortcut menu, and then select Show desktop icons to display hidden desktop icons.

  • If the desktop icons and taskbar are not displayed, Windows Explorer may have broken down. Perform the following steps to restart Windows Explorer:
    1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open Task Manager.

    2. Go to File > Run new task, enter "explorer", and click .

  • In addition, the desktop icons may disappear when tablet mode is enabled. In this case, touch the notification icon on the right part of the taskbar and disable tablet mode.

If this issue persists, back up your data and use F10 to restore the computer to its factory settings.

2. If your computer runs Linux:

Power off your computer and power it on again. If this issue persists, back up your data and bring your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
