Raise to wake does not take effect on my HUAWEI watch/band
| Raise to wake does not take effect on my HUAWEI watch/band |
If your watch/band cannot be powered on, displays a black screen, or has other issues, refer to Issues with powering on and black screens.
If Raise to wake does not take effect on your watch/band, perform the following steps to troubleshoot.
1. Set Raise to wake
- Raise to wake is enabled by default on certain watches (such as HUAWEI WATCH 3 Series/4 Series/5 Series/Ultimate 2).
- To set Raise to wake on your watch/band, enter the app list on your wearable device and go to Settings > Display & brightness > Raise to wake. Alternatively, go to Settings > Accessibility features > Gestures > Raise to wake on your watch. (The steps may vary depending on the device.)
If Raise to wake is not available on your watch/band, it cannot be set on the wearable device. In this case, open the Huawei Health app to set it.
- Open the Huawei Health app, navigate to the device details screen, tap Device settings, and enable or disable Raise to wake. If you are using a HUAWEI Band 4e, enable Rotate to switch screen as well.

2. Exit sleep status/Sleep mode
To prevent frequent screen-on from affecting your sleep, Raise to wake is not supported when your watch is in sleep status or Sleep mode. You can press the side button to exit sleep status after you wake up. If the screen still does not turn on when you raise your wrist, swipe down on the watch home screen to check whether Sleep mode is enabled. If so, disable it and try again. For details, see Sleep monitoring on your HUAWEI watch/band.
3. Disable Do not disturb or Scheduled
Certain watches/bands support the Raise to wake feature in Do not disturb mode. It is recommended that you update your watch/band in a timely manner. If the issue persists after your watch/band is updated, you can swipe down on the watch home screen to open the shortcut menu and disable Do not disturb.

4. Disable the AOD watch face (only available on certain devices)
If you have set an AOD watch face, the battery life will be shortened, and Raise to wake will be disabled. Disable the AOD watch face and try again.
For details about how to set the Raise to wake feature for an AOD watch face, see Always On Display on your HUAWEI watch.
5. Wear your watch/band in a correct manner
Make sure that your watch/band is tightly fastened and positioned slightly above your wrist bone, with its screen facing upwards.

Please note that you'll need to rotate your wrist inward (towards your face) for the screen to turn on.
When lying down, you'll need to raise and rotate your wrist from your side or from your chest to turn the screen on.
6. Restart your watch/band
If the issue persists, restart your watch/band, and then connect it to the Huawei Health app again. If your watch/band cannot be restarted, press and hold the side button for at least 12 seconds to force a restart.
7. Restore to factory settings
If the issue remains unresolved, restore your band/watch to its factory settings.
- A factory reset will clear all personal data from the wearable device, and remove any transport cards, access cards, bank cards, and car keys. Please exercise caution before proceeding.
- Before a factory reset of your wearable, it is recommended that you swipe down on the Huawei Health app home screen to sync data. A factory reset will not clear the historical data that has been synced and uploaded to Huawei Health.
- If your watch has activated the eSIM service, make sure to leave the check box of Delete eSIM configuration unselected when performing a factory reset. By doing so, you can directly use the eSIM service when you pair your watch again. Otherwise, you will need to contact your carrier to deregister from the eSIM service and activate it again.
If the issue remains unresolved or you encounter any difficulties, please contact the Huawei customer service hotline for assistance. We will do our best to address your needs.
