| Video artifacts occur on my HUAWEI MateBook E 2023 when the refresh rate is switched from 120 Hz to 60 Hz |
Problem
When the screen frame rate is switched from 120 Hz to 60 Hz (or when the USB-C port is connected to an external monitor at 120 Hz and the display is switched to 60 Hz), video artifacts occur.

In this case, the user goes to and searches for OSD, but no matching item is found, or only osdservice.exe exists and OSD_Deamon.exe does not exist.

Cause
HUAWEI MateBook E 2023 switches between 120 Hz and 60 Hz frame rates via OSD software. If you uninstall the OSD driver or the OSD_Deamon.exe process is killed by mistake, the screen frame rate will not match the frame rate sent by the GPU when the screen refreshes. As a result, artifacts occur.
Solution
- If the OSD driver is uninstalled by mistake or the OSD_Deamon.exe process is ended abnormally, this issue occurs when you switch the screen refresh rate. In this case, press Fn+R, switch the refresh rate, wake up the OSD_Deamon.exe process, and try again.
- Go to , to update and install the OSD driver. After the driver is installed, restart the device and try again.

- If the issue persists, back up your data and Office account, then use F10 to restore your device to its factory settings. If the issue remains unsolved, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
