Alleviate HUAWEI phone/tablet lag |
Freezing or lag after system update
It is normal if lag occurs within a short period of time after the phone or tablet is updated. System update-related freezing or lag occurs because the system optimises apps after an update. In this case, the device's payload is high. Optimisation lasts up to a week. To reduce the chance of freezing or lag following a system update, it is recommended, following an update, to charge the device with the screen off for at least 2 hours. Check whether freezing or lag disappears after one week.
Make sure that the battery level is sufficient and disable Power Saving mode.
If Power Saving mode is on or the battery level is too low, the device will turn off features to prolong your battery life. If you have enabled Power Saving mode, it is recommended that you go to , disable Power Saving mode, and make sure that the battery level is above 20%.
Adjust the screen refresh rate to High
When the refresh rate is set to Smart or Standard, the frame rate will be limited in some scenarios, causing frame freezing. Go to Screen refresh rate to High.
and setFor certain products, Screen resolution will display. You can search for Screen resolution to set the item.
If Screen refresh rate/Screen resolution is unavailable on your phone, skip this step.
Clear your device
If the available memory is less than 20% of the total memory, the performance of your phone/tablet might degrade.
- If too many apps are running in the background, the running memory will be insufficient, causing app lag. It is recommended that you clear background apps regularly and power off and restart the device every two to three days.
- Insufficient memory can also cause the system to run slowly. Open Phone Manager/Tablet Manager, touch Cleanup, and delete unnecessary files as prompted to ensure sufficient storage space. (It is recommended that you reserve more than 20% of the storage space.)
- Too many apps will occupy a large amount of memory. It is recommended that you uninstall apps that are not frequently used to free up more space. You can touch and hold the app icon and select Uninstall.
Check whether the device is overheated
Your device features an overheating protection mechanism that prevents it from getting too hot by reducing system performance. To keep your device working normally, avoid using it while it is charging, and reduce the screen brightness and disable unnecessary and power-intensive apps, as well as features such as Bluetooth and NFC.
If your device heats up, turn off the screen to lower the temperature and check whether freezing or lag is relieved.
Check whether the device temperature is too low
If the device temperature is too low, the system performance deteriorates due to insufficient battery activity. Try not to use the device when the device temperature is too low. Wait until the temperature rises and check whether freezing or lag is relieved.
Check your third-party apps
- Uninstall any third-party management apps installed on your device, as they tend to conflict with Phone Manager/Tablet Manager provided by your device.
- If your device freezes when using a third-party app, contact the app or call Huawei hotline.
