My HUAWEI phone/tablet heats up during use

It is a common phenomenon that your phone or tablet heats up. HUAWEI phones and tablets use Huawei's unique power saving technology and thermal shutdown circuits to protect your phone/tablet to the most extent. Please do not be concerned. You can also try the following:

  1. Go to Optimiser > Launch manager, and disable automatic management for apps that are not frequently used.
  2. Go to Settings > Display & brightness, enable Automatic, and set Screen resolution to Smart Resolution and Screen refresh rate to Dynamic.
  3. Go to Settings > Apps & services > Permission manager, touch the More options menu (the four-dot icon) in the upper right corner, go to Special access > Battery optimisation, and touch the apps that are not frequently used one by one to change the setting from Don't allow to Allow.
  4. Open the My HUAWEI app, and go to Support > Checkup > Battery.

Suggestions

1. Make sure that your device has been connected to a stable network when you are watching videos or live broadcasts, or making calls.

2. The power consumption may increase due to a high video resolution. Try lowering the video resolution to see if this resolves the problem.

3. If the call duration is long, use a headset to prevent the earpiece or speaker from heating up.

4. Avoid placing your phone/tablet in a poorly ventilated place, such as on a bed or blanket.

Use a protective case with a good heat dissipation performance.

Avoid using your phone/tablet in direct sunlight.

5. Avoid using the device while charging. Otherwise, the device heats up.

6. It is recommended that you close background apps in a timely manner. Power-intensive apps will continuously occupy CPU resources, which may cause your phone to heat up and consume much power. You can keep common social apps (such as WeChat and TikTok) running. This ensures that your phone/tablet can start apps more quickly and receive messages timely as well.

Apps whose background activities are not allowed will be stopped from running by default after the screen is turned off. When you open it again, such apps may start up a little slowly, during which the CPU (processor) will run with high payload for a short period of time. When multiple apps are started for the first time, it is normal that the phone heats up obviously.

If your phone/tablet heats up during normal use, or fails to cool down after you restart it and place it idle for a while, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
