My phone can be unlocked with unenrolled fingerprints

1. Check whether Face Unlock is enabled, which unlocks your phone more quickly than your fingerprint

This may be because you have enabled the Face Unlock feature. When you pick up your phone and face it, the phone will automatically unlock. To check whether you have enabled Face Unlock, search for and access Face Recognition in Settings.

2. Check whether you are using a third-party screen protector, such as a tempered glass screen protector

A third-party tempered glass screen protector or anti-peeping film may affect fingerprint recognition. Remove the screen protector and enrol your fingerprints again.

3. Check whether the fingerprints of other fingers have been enrolled by mistake

You have accidentally enrolled the fingerprint of another finger. Remove it and enrol the fingerprint of your desired finger again.

You can tap Identify fingerprint in the fingerprint list to check which fingerprints have been enrolled. When a recognised fingerprint matches an enrolled one in the list, it will be highlighted. If two or more fingers match the same enrolled fingerprint, it is recommended that you delete that fingerprint and re-enrol it.

4. Check whether you have enrolled this fingerprint in Guest mode

If yes, delete the fingerprint in Guest mode if not needed.

5. Check whether Smart unlock is enabled for your smart band or watch

Your smart band, watch, or Bluetooth earphones, when connected to your phone via Bluetooth, might have automatically activated Smart Unlock mode. The Smart Unlock feature allows you to use a connected Bluetooth device to unlock your phone. If your phone detects that the connected Bluetooth device is in use, its unlocking mode switches to slide-to-unlock. To disable Smart unlock, open Settings, search for and access Smart Unlock, then toggle off its switch.

6. Update your phone to the latest system version

If the issue persists, update your phone to the latest system version, delete all your fingerprints, and enrol them again.

If the preceding solutions do not resolve the issue, back up your data and take your device to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
