It may take longer for a call to be connected when the network connection is poor. In some cases, the call won't be connected at all.
It takes more network resources for a call to be connected on a 5G network. As a result, it may take longer to connect a call on a 5G network when the signal is poor, compared to connecting a call on a 4G network.
When you receive an incoming call on your phone which cannot be connected immediately after you swipe or touch the Answer button, a message is displayed indicating that the call is being connected, and the call is connected several seconds later. Troubleshoot the issue by trying the following:
Make sure that your network connection is good
- In some enclosed environments, such as in an area with many tall buildings near each other, the phone signal may be obstructed and weakened.
- Your network provider's network coverage may vary depending on where you are. In some areas, the coverage may be insufficient, resulting in a poor signal.
If your phone's signal is poor in specific areas, or nearby phones using SIM cards from the same provider are also getting a poor signal, the network connection in this area may be poor. If calls are often connected slowly, contact your network provider for further assistance.

Voice over LTE (VoLTE) allows you to make a voice call on a 4G network. After VoLTE is enabled, calls are likely to be connected more quickly.
