[HUAWEI] My wearable device fails to update

If the Huawei Health app displays a message indicating that the update of your wearable device failed, the transmission progress halts, or the wearable screen is frozen during an update, perform the following to troubleshoot.

Check whether the Huawei Health app is running in the background

Make sure that the Huawei Health app is running and that your phone screen is on during the update of your wearable device, so as to prevent the Huawei Health app from being cleared from the background.

The Huawei Health app being cleared from the background will result in update failures on your wearable device. If that happens, reopen the Huawei Health app, link it with your wearable device, and perform the update again.

Check whether your wearable device has sufficient battery power

To ensure a successful update, it is recommended that you update your device only when its battery level is higher than 50%.

HUAWEI WATCH Buds: The earbuds will fail to update if their battery level is too low. Before the update, make sure that the earbuds have 20% battery at least and place them in the compartment with the cover closed. Avoid opening the cover during the update.

Restart your wearable device or restore it to factory settings

If the Huawei Health app or your wearable device displays an update failure message, restart the device or restore it to the factory settings, and then perform the update again.

Pair with another phone and try updating again

If the update still fails after a restart or factory settings restore, install the Huawei Health app on another phone, pair it with your wearable device, update your device, and then reconnect it to the original phone.

If the issue persists

If any of the following issues occurs with the HUAWEI Band 8/HUAWEI Band 7:

1. The band automatically restarts when the transmission of the installation package fails or the installation progress halts at 25%, 27%, 30%, or 50%, etc. After a restart, the band version remains the old version.

2. During the update, the download or receiving progress is stuck at 0% and the system displays an update/download failure message. This issue occurs repeatedly.

3. Other issues occur and lead to an update failure.

If the problem remains unresolved after performing all of the troubleshooting steps above, advise the user to take their device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance. If the user does not want to visit a store, escalate the issue.

If none of the above resolves the issue, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
