How to enable or disable Tablet mode on a HUAWEI 2-in-1 laptop

How to enable or disable Tablet mode on a HUAWEI 2-in-1 laptop

In Tablet mode provided by Windows, your 2-in-1 laptop works as a tablet and delivers a better touchscreen experience.

Precaution:

Check the Windows version of the laptop first.

Windows 11

The original Tablet mode switch has been removed from Windows 11. In this system, Tablet mode is automatically enabled or disabled.

  • Enabling Tablet mode

    Operation: Disconnect the folio keyboard from the 2-in-1 laptop. Tablet mode will be automatically enabled.

    Effect: In Tablet mode, the spacing between icons on the taskbar is larger, as shown in the following figure.

  • Disabling Tablet mode

    Operation: Reconnect the folio keyboard to the 2-in-1 laptop. The system will automatically switch to PC mode upon connection.

    Effect: In PC mode, the spacing between icons on the taskbar is smaller, as shown in the following figure.

Windows 10

 
  • The UI may vary depending on the device model.
  • You can enable Tablet mode on a computer (non-2-in-1 laptop) running Windows 10 as well, which however cannot allow you to use the computer as a tablet.
    • If the computer is equipped with a touchscreen, you can use the touchscreen to operate it in Tablet mode, but cannot separate the keyboard from it.
    • If the computer is not equipped with a touchscreen, you can only use a mouse to operate it in Tablet mode.

Method 1: Enabling or disabling Tablet mode in the action center

  • Enabling Tablet mode
    1. Click the action center icon in the lower right corner of the desktop to open Manage notifications.
    2. Click the Tablet mode icon . When the icon turns blue (as shown in the following figure), Tablet mode is enabled.

  • Disabling Tablet mode

    Touch the Tablet mode icon . The icon turns gray when Tablet mode is disabled.

Method 2: Enabling or disabling Tablet mode in system settings

  • Enabling Tablet mode
    1. Press Win+I to open the Settings screen, and go to System > Tablet.
    2. Select Always use tablet mode from the When I sign in drop-down list.

  • Disabling Tablet mode

    Select Never use tablet mode from the When I sign in drop-down list.
