Unable to unlock my HUAWEI phone/tablet via fingerprint, face recognition, or bone voiceprint

Problem:

Neither fingerprint, face recognition, nor bone voiceprint work, and a password is required to unlock the device.

Cause:

Due to data privacy considerations, a lock screen password is required in the following scenarios:

  1. Unlocking the screen for the first time after the device has been restarted.
  2. After a system update.
  3. After the screen was locked by a third-party screen lock app.
  4. Once fingerprint unlock is enabled on your phone/tablet, the system will remind you to enter the password periodically, to prevent you from forgetting your password. These reminders will become less and less frequent, and will eventually only occur once every three days.
  5. If your device is running EMUI 10.0/Magic UI 3.0 or later, you will be asked to enter the lock screen password 12 hours after the device is powered on, if only 2D face unlock has been used and the device has not been restarted since.
  6. The lock screen password is required after five consecutive failed attempts to unlock the phone using face unlock.
  7. The lock screen password is required after the phone has been frozen for 30 seconds following five consecutive failed attempts to unlock the phone using fingerprint unlock.
  8. The lock screen password is required after 20 consecutive failed attempts to unlock the phone using fingerprint unlock.
  9. The lock screen password is required after five consecutive failed attempts to unlock the phone using voiceprint unlock.
  10. The lock screen password is required when you need to unlock the phone for the first time, after having accessed Emergency SOS by pressing the Power button five times in rapid succession.
  11. The lock screen password is required to unlock the device from the power-off screen if Lockdown mode has been enabled (Lockdown mode can be enabled by searching for Lock screen password in Settings, tapping Secure lock settings, and enabling Show Lockdown option).
  12. You have enabled Ultra Power Saving mode by going to Settings > Battery. (This mode is not supported on certain products. If this option is not displayed, Ultra Power Saving mode is not supported on your device.)

Solution:

In the above scenarios, enter the password to unlock your device. For any further queries, please call the Huawei customer service hotline.
