Cause
- Unnecessary temporary files are generated during Windows updates.
- Temporary files are generated during use.
- Temporary files are left over when installing third-party software.
Solution
For Windows 10:
- Press Win+I to enter the Windows Settings screen.
- Go to System > Storage, make sure that the switch under Storage is turned on, and click Configure Storage Sense or run it now.
- Click Clean now under Free up space now.
For Windows 11:
- Press Win+I to enter the Windows Settings screen, and go to System > Storage.
- Go to Temporary files > Remove files to delete the files selected by default.
- Return to the Storage screen, click Storage Sense, select Cleanup of temporary files, and turn on Automatic User content cleanup.
If the issue persists, back up your data, and use F10 to restore your computer to its factory settings.
