When I try to set a fingerprint as the Fingerprint ID for PrivateSpace, I am notified that this fingerprint is already in use

Different fingerprints should be set for PrivateSpace and MainSpace. When you attempt to enrol a Fingerprint ID for PrivateSpace that is already being used by MainSpace, you will be notified that the fingerprint is already in use. It is recommended that you use a different Fingerprint ID to create Fingerprint ID for PrivateSpace.
