I was prompted with the message that a download was disrupted by the SmartScreen filter on my HUAWEI computer

Problem

When the user is using Microsoft Edge preinstalled on the computer to download tasks, they are prompted with a message indicating that the download is not secure and the SmartScreen filter has interrupted the download.

Cause

This happens because the SmartScreen filter is turned on so it interrupts the download.

Solution

Solution 1: Click the three-dot icon on the right of the file to be downloaded, and go to Keep > Keep anyway.

Solution 2: Turn off the SmartScreen filter, by performing the following steps.

  1. Click the More (three-dots) icon in the top-right corner of Internet Explorer.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Click Privacy & security, scroll down to the bottom, and set Windows SmartScreen to Off.

If the Microsoft Edge version is up to date, click ... (More icon) in the upper right corner of the browser, go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services, scroll down the page to find Security, and turn off Windows Defender SmartScreen.

Solution 3: If you need to download files in batches from an independent website, perform the following steps:

  1. Copy the current website address.
  2. Open Microsoft Edge, click ... (More icon) in the upper right corner of the browser, go to Settings > Cookie and site permissions > Insecure content, and add the copied website to allowed ones.
