| Unable to use most of function keys other than F1 and the touchpad |
Cause:
Filter Keys function may have been enabled. When you press the right Shift key for more than eight seconds, a pop-up message appears asking whether you want to enable Filter Keys. Once you enable Filter Keys, the keyboard cannot be used.
Filter Keys is a function of Microsoft Windows and designed to make typing easier for users by instructing the keyboard to ignore brief or repeated keystrokes on the keyboard. You can set a slower rate at which the keystrokes are accepted on your keyboard.
Solution:
- Check whether your keyboard is faulty. Press the Caps key to switch between lower and uppercase. If the indicator on the Caps key does not light up, it is possible that the keyboard is faulty.
- Check whether you have enabled Filter Keys.
- Enter Control Panel in the search box on the taskbar and open it.

- Click Ease of Access.

- Select Change how your keyboard works.

- Uncheck Turn on Filter Keys. Then, click Apply.

- Enter Control Panel in the search box on the taskbar and open it.
- Try to type normally using the keyboard to check if the issue is resolved.
Thanks for your feedback.
