My Huawei laptop screen suddenly turns dark or bright after I set the power options to turn off the screen after one minute

Problem

The computer's power options are set to turn off the screen after one minute. After the computer is idle for one minute, the screen suddenly turns dark instead of gradually turning dark. When the screen is turned on, the screen suddenly turns bright instead of gradually turning bright.
