Retrieve network settings from an old router for HUAWEI WiFi Q2

Currently, HUAWEI WiFi Q2 can only be configured through the HUAWEI AI Life app. Once the initial configuration is complete, you can manage your router on the web-based management page.

If you have forgotten your broadband account or password required to configure your router, try retrieving the information from your old router as follows to complete the configuration:

Preparations:

  • Take out one of the routers from the pack (any one of the three routers can be configured as the primary router), connect it to the power supply, then connect the router's WAN port to the Internet using an Ethernet cable.
  • If you have a pre-installed HUAWEI AI Life app on your phone, ensure that it is up-to-date.
  1. Connect your phone to your router's Wi-Fi network (no password is required). Your can find the Wi-Fi name at the bottom of the router.
  2. Open the HUAWEI AI Life app and go to CONFIGURE > SET UP.

If no notification prompt appears, touch in the upper right corner of the app's home screen.

  3. Connect an Ethernet cable from the WAN port on your old router to the LAN port on your HUAWEI WiFi Q2 connected to the Internet. Touch RETRIEVE FROM OLD ROUTER and follow the onscreen instructions to retrieve your account and password.

Once the information is retrieved, you can disconnect the Ethernet cable from your old router.

  4. The broadband account and password retrieved from your old router will automatically appear in the Broadband account and Broadband password fields. Touch CONNECT and follow the Internet access wizard to set a new Wi-Fi name and password, then place it where you need. You can access the Internet once the indicator of the primary router turns steady blue.

After configuring your primary router, follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup of your secondary routers. Connect them to the power supply, and they will establish network connections automatically.
