Problem
The taskbar search box on the HUAWEI computer does not respond when clicked or cannot be used for searching.
Cause
This issue is caused by a temporary stuttering crash or system exception in Windows File Explorer.
Solution
- Restart Task Manager:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- On the Processes tab, select the Task Manager process and click Restart task.
Note: For Windows 10, right-click the Task Manager process and click Restart.
- Rebuild an index:
- Press Win + R, enter "control" to open Control Panel, click Category next to View by, select Large icons, and click Indexing Options.
- Click Advanced, and select Rebuild.
- Restore system files:
Press Win + X, select Terminal (Admin), and run the following commands:
Enter Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and press Enter.
Enter DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth and press Enter.
Enter DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and press Enter.
Enter sfc /scannow and press Enter.
- Check the service and update the system:
- Press Win+R to open the Run window, enter "services.msc", and press Enter. In the Services window, find the Windows Search service and ensure that its status is Running. If not, right-click the service and choose Start from the shortcut menu.
- Also, download the latest Windows ISO update. After the update is complete, restart your computer and try again.
If the issue remains unresolved
If the issue persists, back up your data, record your Office account that has been activated, and use F10 to restore your device to its factory settings.
