A CPE converts cellular signals or wired broadband signals into wired signals or Wi-Fi signals for user devices. In this document, outdoor CPEs refer to CPEs that are installed outdoors, do not support the Mesh+ protocol, and provide wired signals rather than Wi-Fi signals for user devices. For details about the networking between outdoor CPEs and routers, see Scenario 1: Networking Between Outdoor CPEs and HUAWEI Routers.
In this document, indoor CPEs refer to CPEs that are installed indoors, support the Mesh+ protocol, and provide both Wi-Fi signals and wired signals for user devices. For details about the networking between indoor CPEs and routers, see Scenario 2: Networking Between Indoor CPEs and HUAWEI Routers.
- "HUAWEI router" refers to routers that supportHUAWEI Mesh+ Please check if your device supports such feature.
- Ensure that the CPE has been configured and is working properly.
- Ensure that the router is new or has been restored to its factory settings.
- Devices that support WAN/LAN auto-sensing can be connected to any network port. If there is only one network port on the CPE, set the port to a LAN port.
Scenario 1: Networking Between Outdoor CPEs and HUAWEI Routers
- Connect the CPE and HUAWEI router to their power adapters and power them on, and use a network cable to connect the WAN port on the HUAWEI router to the LAN port on the CPE.

- Connect your phone or computer to the router's Wi-Fi network. For the Wi-Fi name, see the nameplate at the bottom of the router. By default, the Wi-Fi network is password-free.

- Open the browser, and you will be automatically redirected to the web-based management page (if you are not redirected, enter 192.168.3.1 in the address bar), and complete the initial configuration of the router as prompted.
On the Internet access mode page, select DHCP.
- To add a router to expand the coverage, after the first router is configured and its indicator is steady green (or blue/on (customized or in Golden Mountain mode)), connect the second router to the first router.
For routers in a pack or purchased separately, after the first router is configured, configure the second router as follows:
- Wired networking: Use a network cable to connect the WAN port on the second HUAWEI router to the LAN port on the first configured HUAWEI router. The indicator of the second HUAWEI router will turn steady green (or blue/on (customized or in Golden Mountain mode)) in around 1 minute, which indicates that the wired networking is successful. Then, wait for around 20 seconds until the parameter synchronization is complete.

- Wireless networking:
Method 1: For routers in a pack, connect the second HUAWEI router to the power supply and place it next to the first configured HUAWEI router (within 1 meter). The indicator on the second HUAWEI router will turn steady green (or blue/on (customized or in Golden Mountain mode)) in about 2 minutes, which indicates that the wireless networking is successful. Then, wait for around 20 seconds until the parameter synchronization is complete.
Method 2: Connect the second HUAWEI router to the power supply and place it next to the first configured HUAWEI router (within 1 meter). When the indicator on the first HUAWEI router flashes slowly, press the WPS/RESET / WPS / H button on the first router. The indicator on the second HUAWEI router will flash quickly, and then turn steady green (or blue) in about 2 minutes, which indicates that the wireless networking is successful. Then, wait for around 20 seconds until the parameter synchronization is complete.

When connecting two routers wirelessly, make sure that you press the WPS/RESET / WPS / H button on the first router and not the second router, after the first configured router has found the second router (the indicator on the first router flashes slowly).
If the first router does not find the second router (the indicator on the first router does not flash), the channels of the two routers may be different. In this case, manually set the channel on the first router (CH6 is recommended for 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and CH36 is recommended for 5 GHz Wi-Fi), and try again.
Method 3: For routers purchased separately, connect the second HUAWEI router to the power supply and place it next to the first configured HUAWEI router (within 1 meter). Connect your phone/tablet to the first configured router's Wi-Fi. Then, open the AI Life app and log in with the HUAWEI ID linked to the first configured router. The app will prompt you about a newly detected router. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the router to your existing network. If no prompt is displayed, tap + in the upper right corner and then ADD, and select the target router.
- Place the second configured HUAWEI router where needed in your home. Generally, you are advised to place the second configured router somewhere between the first configured router and the area with no Wi-Fi coverage.

Scenario 2: Networking Between HUAWEI Indoor CPEs and HUAWEI Routers
- Ensure that the CPE has been configured and is working properly, and that the Link+ feature is enabled.
- If the CPE does not support the Mesh+ protocol, configure the CPE by referring to Scenario 1: Networking Between Outdoor CPEs and HUAWEI Routers.
- Connect the first HUAWEI router with the CPE.
- Wired networking: Connect the CPE and HUAWEI router to their power adapters, and power them on. Use a network cable to connect the WAN port on the HUAWEI router to the LAN port on the CPE. The indicator on the HUAWEI router will turn steady green (or blue/on (customized or in Golden Mountain mode)) in around 1 minute, which indicates that the wired networking is successful. Then, wait for around 20 seconds until the parameter synchronization is complete.
- Wireless networking: Connect the HUAWEI router to the power supply and place it next to the CPE (within 1 meter). When the indicator on the CPE flashes slowly, press the WPS button (or H button or
) on the CPE. The indicator on the HUAWEI router will turn steady green (or blue/on (customized or in Golden Mountain mode)) in around 2 minutes, which indicates that the wireless networking is successful. Then, wait for around 20 seconds until the parameter synchronization is complete.
- When connecting the router with the CPE wirelessly, make sure that you press the WPS button (or H button or
) on the CPE and not the WPS/RESET / WPS / H button on the router, after the CPE has found the router (the indicator on the CPE flashes slowly). - If the CPE does not find the router (the indicator on the CPE does not flash), the channels of the two devices may be different. In this case, manually set the channel on the CPE (CH6 is recommended for 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and CH36 is recommended for 5 GHz Wi-Fi), and try again
- When connecting the router with the CPE wirelessly, make sure that you press the WPS button (or H button or
- Add more routers to expand the network coverage.
The second HUAWEI WiFi Extender AX3000 can only connect to the CPE for network setup.
- Wired networking:
