Sound is playing through the computer's speaker instead of the headset when Always applied or Just for once is selected

Find below different scenarios and solutions if, after connecting a headset to your computer and selecting Always applied or Just for once in the pop-up dialog box, sound is still played through the computer's speaker.

1. Realtek Audio Console may not be allowed to run in the background so, when connecting a headset to your computer, the sound is not switched to the headset.

To solve this, enter Privacy settings in the search box on the taskbar and open it. Go to Background apps and set Let apps run in the background to On.

Also make sure that the switch for Realtek Audio Console is set to On.

Return to the home screen, enter Realtek Audio Console in the search box on the task bar and open it. Go to Device advanced settings and set Enable Jack detection when device is plugged in to On.

Restart your computer, re-connect your headset and check if the issue was resolved.

2. When enabled, Focus assist prevents Realtek's UI program from popping-up and the sound cannot be switched to the headset. To disable this feature, enter Focus assist in the search box on the taskbar and open it.

Set it to Off and restart your computer for the change to take effect.

3. Sounds will be played through the computer's speakers if the driver is faulty. In this case, please reinstall the driver.

To do that, enter Control Panel in the search box on the taskbar and open it. Select Uninstall a program, look for Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and double-click on it to begin uninstalling the driver. After the process is complete, restart the computer.

Then visit Huawei official website (https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/) and search for your computer's model.

Find the latest version of the sound card driver, then download and install it. Restart your computer and check if the issue was resolved.
