[HUAWEI] My scale cannot measure my body fat percentage

If you're using a HUAWEI Scale 3 Pro, make sure to step onto the scale barefoot and pull the handle up, for full-scale data measurements including fat percentage and heart rate. Otherwise, only your weight and BMI will display on the Huawei Health app.

1. Enter your correct information

Check whether your personal information (such as gender, date of birth, height, and weight) is correctly set. To do so, go to Huawei Health > Me > Profile. Do not set gender to Prefer not to say. Once the settings are done, you'll need to perform an online measurement via the Huawei Health app, so that the scale can identify your information.

Body composition measurements are not supported for users of certain age groups. Such users will only obtain their weight and heart rate data from a scale, with their body fat percentage data displaying as "----".

  • Such age groups include those aged under 18 and those aged over 65.

2. Perform a measurement in the correct manner

Body fat percentage data may become unavailable when the scale is used in an incorrect or inconsistent manner.

During a measurement, stand straight and barefoot on the scale, with your heels, knees, and thighs slightly apart and your feet in full contact with the electrodes on the scale.

3. Check the unassigned data before an offline measurement

For an offline measurement, if two or more users in the Weight management card of the Huawei Health app have a weight difference of 2–3 kg, body fat percentage data is only available after you check and confirm the unassigned weight data. To do so, go to Huawei Health > Health > Weight management, then touch in the upper right corner and then Unassigned data.

To avoid such confusion between users of similar weights, try the following:

  • Open the Huawei Health app, touch the Weight management card and then the downward triangle icon next to your personal profile, choose Manage users, and check the user information of all members. Delete any members with similar weights who do not frequently use the scale. Then perform an online measurement for yourself via the Huawei Health app, so that the scale can identify your information.

  • If you're using a HUAWEI Scale 2 Pro or earlier model, you can delete users with similar weights by opening the Huawei Health app, accessing the scale details screen, and touching Manage data.

4. Take online measurements via the Huawei Health app whenever possible

  • Go to Huawei Health > Devices, touch the connected body fat scale's card to access the device details screen, gently tap the scale to activate it, touch Start, and follow the onscreen instructions to step on the scale.
  • Your scale will first measure your weight, and then, after your weight data stops flashing, measure other fitness data. When your weight and body fat percentage display in turn, the measurement is complete. Make sure to wait till your body fat percentage displays on the scale before stepping off the scale.

If the issue persists

On the Huawei Health app, access the device details screen, restore your device to its factory settings, and link it with the app again.

If the issue remains unresolved, please call the Huawei consumer service hotline for further assistance.
