Problem

A non-standard HDD power cable is used to install a hard disk without permission. As a result, the mainboard is burnt or the computer cannot be powered on.

Cause

Huawei HDD components are customized. The power cable components and pin definitions differ significantly from others on the market. If a non-standard power cable is forcibly inserted, the pins may be short-circuited, the mainboard may be burnt, or the computer may fail to start up. The figure above shows HDD power cables on the market.

The figure above shows the standard HDD power cable provided by Huawei. Generally, the yellow cable is +12 V, the red or orange cable is +5 V, and the black cable is the ground cable. If a non-standard HDD power cable is used, the pins will be short-circuited.

Back up your data and bring your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
