How to configure a HUAWEI WiFi Q2 Pro secondary router as the primary one, and add a HarmonyOS Mesh+ router to the network

This FAQ is only applicable to the HUAWEI WiFi Q2 Pro (3 Pack · Hybrid).

  1. Restore the secondary router that will be configured as the primary router to its factory settings. Then open the HUAWEI AI Life app and follow the Internet access wizard to complete the configuration process for your primary router.
  2. Restore the other secondary router to its factory settings and place it where needed, then connect it to the power supply. The router will automatically establish network connections.
  3. Connect the new HarmonyOS Mesh+ router with your new primary router in the HUAWEI AI Life app, through the H button, or using a cable.

Method 1: Pairing through the HUAWEI AI Life app

Place the HarmonyOS Mesh+ router (new or factory reset) near your primary router (within 1 meter is recommended) and connect it to its power supply. Open the HUAWEI AI Life app, which will automatically detect pairable devices nearby, then follow the onscreen prompts to pair your HarmonyOS Mesh+ router.

If no notification prompt appears, touch in the upper right corner of the app's home screen.

Method 2: Pairing through the H button

The following example demonstrates how to pair two HUAWEI WiFi Q2 Pro routers through the H button.

  1. Place the HarmonyOS Mesh+ router (new or factory reset) near your primary router (within 1 meter is recommended) and connect it to its power supply.

  2. Wait for approximately 1 minute until the indicator on the primary router flashes. At this point, press the H button on the primary router and its indicator will flash faster. Once the indicator on the HarmonyOS Mesh+ router turns steady blue, the pairing is complete.

After the pairing is successful, the Wi-Fi name and password of the HarmonyOS Mesh+ router will sync with the primary router. You can improve your Wi-Fi coverage by placing your secondary routers where needed. For the best connection, it is recommended that there be no more than 2 walls in between your primary and secondary routers.

Method 3: Direct cable connection

Connect the LAN port on the primary router to the WAN port on the secondary router using an Ethernet cable. Once connected, the routers will establish network connections automatically without manual configuration (the following illustration shows the connection between two HUAWEI WiFi Q2 Pro routers).

In wired networking mode, ensure that the primary router is connected to an upstream network using an Ethernet cable, and that its indicator remains steady blue.
