Version update suggestions
New versions usually incorporate security patches and new features, and optimize user experience in touchscreen, communication, performance, stability, and security.
It is recommended that you update your device at your earliest convenience after receiving an update notification.
How to disable automatic system update
To retain the current system version, disable the Auto-download over Wi-Fi and Update overnight features to prevent your device from automatically updating when conditions are met.
Note: You will still receive system update notifications after disabling the features. Currently, the version push function cannot be disabled in the system, and the red dot notification on Software update cannot be disabled either.
- Disable Auto-download over Wi-Fi.
Cause: This switch is turned on by default. When a new version is detected and the battery level is sufficient (> 50%), the device will automatically download the update package over Wi-Fi. After the download is complete, a dialog box will be displayed, prompting you to install the update package.
Operation:- Open Settings, and search for and access Software update.
- Tap the Settings icon
in the upper right corner. - Disable Auto-download over Wi-Fi/Auto-download over Wi-Fi.
- Disable Update overnight.
Cause:
If Update overnight is enabled and the installation package has been downloaded, the version will automatically update between 02:00 and 04:00, provided the following conditions are met:- The battery level is above 35% when unplugged, or above 10% when charging.
- The device is locked and no alarm will go off within the next 30 minutes.
Operation:
- Open Settings, and search for and access Software update.
- Tap the Settings icon
in the upper right corner. - Disable Update overnight.
- If the Update overnight message is still displayed after the feature is disabled, tap Remind me later in the upper right corner to access the lock screen and enter the password. (This message is displayed when the system update version is downloaded but not installed.)
Notes:
- Update overnight is disabled by default.
- Update overnight is not available for certain models.
- You can tap Continue on the Keep your software up to date screen to enable automatic update download, or tap Update manually to disable automatic update download.
- Disable Automatic system updates in Developer mode. (Skip this step if Developer options has not been enabled.)
Operation:
- Open Settings on the phone and search for Developer options.
- Find Automatic system updates and disable it.
Note: It is strongly recommended that you disable Developer options during daily use to prevent device exceptions caused by accidental operations.
- If the issue persists or you encounter any difficulties, please call the Huawei customer service hotline for assistance.
