The other party cannot hear any sound, or hear low sound, noises, intermittent sound, or echoes during WeChat voice or video calls, or calls made via a HUAWEI phone's SIM card

Problem

During WeChat voice or video calls, game voice chat, or calls made via a HUAWEI phone's SIM card, the other party hears intermittent sound, noises, or no sound from your device.

This issue is more obvious especially when the user is playing music, watching a video, or playing a game, or in a noisy environment. Sometimes, the other party can even hear the music, video, or game sound from the user's device.

Solution

  1. Enable Noise reduction.
Enable Noise reduction during a call or game voice chat by swiping down from the upper left corner to display the notification panel (as shown in the following figure).

If your phone does not support Noise reduction, perform the following steps to troubleshoot:

  2. Check whether the device is overheated.

When the device is overheated, the thermal shutdown feature of the device reduces the system performance, and the call noise reduction feature is restricted. For a better call experience, it is recommended that you wait until the device temperature returns to normal before making a call.

  3. If you are playing music, videos, or games simultaneously, reduce the media volume or use a headset.
  4. If your device is connected to an external device, disconnect the external device. The issue may be caused by the external device (such as a Bluetooth headset).
  5. Use a third-party protective case that does not block the microphone holes, or use a HUAWEI protective case.
  6. If the microphone holes are dirty or blocked, use a soft brush to clean the holes.
  7. If you are in a noisy environment, move to a quiet place for the call.
  8. Check whether the network is abnormal or the other party's phone is faulty. For example, by checking whether the issue often occurs in a certain place, in a high-speed vehicle, or when the other party is a certain contact. If the issue is caused by the network, move to an area with good signal reception or call the customer service center of the carrier. The carrier will take measures accordingly, for example, adding network transmission devices.
  9. Check whether Super Privacy mode is enabled (for foldable phones).

To disable Super Privacy mode, go to Settings > Privacy > Super Privacy mode and turn off the Turn on when folded and Always on switches. After Super Privacy mode is enabled, apps cannot obtain the microphone, camera, and location data of your phone in the certain scenarios, which may cause no sound during calls.

  10. Check whether the microphone is damaged.

Go to My HUAWEI > Support > Checkup to check whether the microphone is abnormal.

If the microphone is normal but the issue remains unresolved, contact the Huawei customer service hotline, or back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to a nearby Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.

If the issue persists

If the issue persists, take the device and proof of purchase to a nearby Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
