My phone or tablet is unable to provide an accurate location or navigate

There are various factors that may affect the positioning and navigation results. To troubleshoot the issue, perform the following:

Check that the location settings are correct.

  • Make sure your phone is connected to the Internet. Swipe down from the status bar to access the notification panel and enable Location information.
  • Check the location service settings as follows: Swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel. Touch and hold Location information to access the Location information screen. Touch Advanced settings and enable Wi‑Fi scanning to increase the network positioning accuracy.

  • Check whether the navigation app you are using has access to Location information. To enable the corresponding permission for the app, open Settings, search for and access Permissions, find the navigation app you are using, and enable Location information for it.

If your phone is running EMUI 8.X or an earlier version, select Use GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile networks for your navigation app.

Check related geographical factors.

  • High-rise buildings, densely concentrated buildings, roofs, and walls will affect GPS signals, resulting in inaccurate positioning results. It is recommended that you connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network or move your phone to an open area to receive better signal.

  • GPS signals are weak in places with obstacles, such as tunnels, elevated highways, and mountainous areas. In general, GPS signals can go back to normal when you leave such places. If the GPS signal is weak all the time, restart your phone and try again.

Check other factors.

If you are using a metal case, or magnetic case or phone holder, remove the case or phone holder and try again. This is because metal or magnetic materials can affect or even shield GPS signals, so your phone may be unable to receive GPS signals while obtaining a location or navigating.

If the issue remains unresolved, take your phone and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
