The calculation of Digital balance or tablet Screen time is inaccurate or unavailable |
When calculating Screen time, the system calculates only the length of time for which an app runs in the foreground. The time you spend using apps that are Always allowed, apps running in the background, apps that have stopped running, and apps that have been uninstalled will not be calculated as Screen time.
Further information about the calculation of Screen time is provided below:
- Screen time in Screen Time Management refers to the total time for which restricted apps run in the foreground. By default, the Screen time is 2 hours for kids.
- App limits in Screen Time Management is a limit on the amount of time that you can use one or more apps. (After enabling Limit use, set the time limit, Always allowed, Never allowed, and Set for multiple.)
- An app will be restricted by either the Screen time or the App limits set specifically for it, whichever comes first. For example, if there are 2 hours of Screen time left and an app only has 10 minutes left based on a specific limit imposed, that app will become unavailable after 10 minutes.
- If an app is set to Always allowed, the system will not calculate the screen time of this app or restrict its use.
- If an app is set to Never allowed, it will be unavailable at all times.
- If you have set the screen time for more than one app by going to Set for multiple, the designated screen time covers the time for which any of the specified apps are running in the foreground. For example, if you have set a screen time duration of 30 minutes for two apps, they will both be limited when their total running time reaches 30 minutes.
- In Adult mode: Screen time refers to the total time for which apps are running in the foreground.
- In Child mode: In version 11.1.1.351 and later versions of Digital balance, the time for which audio apps run in the background is also counted as part of the Screen time.
- If Away time set in Screen Time Management has been reached, all apps except those you have set as Always allowed will be unavailable.
- In Multi-Window/Split screen/App Twin mode, the screen time of each screen or twin app is independently calculated, and only one duration is included for the calculation of total available screen time.
