Chatting with friends on a kids watch

Swipe left on the kids watch home screen to find and access Chats, and select the target friend.

• Hold down on to record a voice message and send it by simply releasing your finger.
• Tap and select Gallery, Photo, or Video.
• Tap to send a preinstalled emoticon.

Group chatting on a kids watch

Chatting with a group:

Navigate to the Chats screen on a kids watch, tap Create group, invite friends to join, and start your chat.

 

• Group chats can only be created on kids watches. Friends (i.e. other kids watch owners) can be invited as group members, but admins of kids watches cannot.

Changing the chat group name:

Hold down on the group chat name while creating a group or hold down on the group name on the Chats screen to rename the group.

Managing groups:

Group admin: On the group chat details screen, tap in the lower left corner and then Manage group, where you can choose to mute notifications for the current group, manage group members by adding or deleting them, and dismiss or leave the group chat. (Group members other than the admin can only add members and leave the group chat.)

Clearing chat history on a kids watch

• Navigate to the Chats screen on a kids watch, hold down on a friend or group name, and tap Clear to delete all chat messages with the target friend or group.
• You can also tap a friend or group name to enter the chat details screen, hold down on a specific message, and delete it or select more messages before deleting them.
  

  Chat history on the watch is stored locally and can't be retrieved once deleted. Exercise caution before proceeding.

Chatting in the HUAWEI FamCare app

Chatting:

• All admins: Open HUAWEI FamCare, tap Communication, and select your child or the family group to access the chat details screen, where you can send text and voice messages, images, and preinstalled emoticons.
• When a message is read on the kids watch, it will be marked as read on the chat details screen of HUAWEI FamCare.
• All admins: You can delete chat history by tapping in the upper right corner of the group chat details screen and then Clear chat history.

Family group chat settings:

• Parent/Legal guardian: You will be automatically added to the family group chat, once your account is linked to a kids watch to become its admin.
  

  If multiple kids watches are linked to the same main admin, these child accounts will be added to the same family group. The way to avoid this is to link each kids watch with a different main admin account.

• Main admin: To rename the family group, tap in the upper right corner of the group chat details screen and then to modify it, and tap √ in the upper right corner when you're done.
• All admins: Tap in the upper right corner of the group chat details screen and then My nickname in this group to modify your nickname.
• All admins: Tap in the upper right corner of the group chat details screen and toggle on Display group member nicknames, then you'll see the members' nicknames and profile pictures. This won't change the display on the kids watch, which shows only a member's relationship with the child, such as "mom".
