File sharing or transfer doesn't work on my HUAWEI phone/tablet

There are multiple causes for file sharing or transfer failure on a HUAWEI phone or tablet. Perform the following steps to troubleshoot:

Not supported by the device

To share files, both HUAWEI devices need to support Huawei Share. You can go to Settings and search for Huawei Share. If you're unable to find the feature, it means that your device does not support it.

Not within the supported range

To share files, make sure that the two devices are within 10 m (effective Bluetooth connection distance) of each other.

The device screen is off

Check whether the screen of any of the devices is turned off. To share files, make sure that the screens of both devices are turned on.

Insufficient storage space

Check the storage space on your device. To share files, make sure that both devices have sufficient storage space.

The transmission channel is occupied

Huawei Share, Wi-Fi Direct, Wireless Projection, Wi-Fi signal bridge, Multi-screen Collaboration, Huawei Beam, and VPN share the same transmission channel. Therefore, these features cannot be used simultaneously. If the above features are enabled, disable them and then try again.

If the issue persists

  1. Try transferring files once again:
    • Try again after disabling and then re-enabling Huawei Share.
    • It is recommended that you delete HwNearby data and try again. Go to Settings, search for and open Apps, touch in the upper right corner, and go to Show system processes > HwNearby > Storage > Clear data.
    • Go to Settings, search for and touch Reset network settings, and try transferring files again.

      Resetting network settings will only reset Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth settings (such as hotspot connections and Bluetooth pairings), without resetting other settings or deleting any data or files.

  2. If the issue remains unresolved, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
