My HUAWEI phone/tablet displays a black screen, freezes, or automatically restarts after powering on

Check for the following conditions and perform the corresponding operations.

The device displays a black screen or doesn't respond, or the indicator blinks red during startup, or the device powers off immediately after startup

  1. The battery may have run out. Use a standard charger to charge your device for more than 30 minutes and then try powering it on again.
  2. Press and hold the Power button (or the Power and Volume down buttons) to force restart your device.
  3. If the issue persists, back up your data in advance (if a black screen is displayed, go to a service center to back up or check your device).

The device enters fastboot mode after powering on:

  1. The Power and Volume buttons may have been pressed and held accidentally. Press and hold the Power button for more than 15 seconds to force restart your device to fix it.

    For the Mate 40 series, Mate X2, MatePad Pro 10.8-inch 2021, MatePad Pro 12.6-inch 2021, MatePad 11, and P50, press and hold the Volume down and Power buttons for more than 10 seconds to force restart your device.

  2. Check whether the device buttons are getting stuck or held down by the protective case and try to prevent this issue from happening again.

The screen freezes after powering on, the device fails to access the home screen or automatically powers off, or the device restarts

The device temperature is too high or too low

If the device temperature is too high or too low, the device will show a message, indicating that the device is about to stop working. It may then fail to be charged, automatically power off, or restart.

The device rings or vibrates during startup, but displays a black screen

The screen may be faulty. In this case, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.

If the issue persists

If the preceding solutions do not resolve the issue, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
