Black screen frequently appears on my HUAWEI phone/tablet |
If your phone/tablet displays a black screen during use and the device has not been dropped or bumped, hold down on the Power button for more than 15 seconds or hold down on the Volume down and Power buttons for more than 10 seconds to forcibly restart the device. If the restart fails, the hardware may be faulty or the system may be damaged. Back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
If you can access the home screen after forcibly restarting your device, perform the following steps:
There is a folio cover on the device
Check whether your device uses a folio cover. If the magnet specifications of the folio cover do not match the product, the screen may automatically turn off or turn to black due to incorrect identification. Open Settings, search for Smart Cover, and select Off.
The screen turns on and off during WeChat voice calls or phone calls
Placing the phone close to your face during calls blocks the proximity sensor, which causes the screen to automatically turn off, to reduce power consumption and heat generated by the screen.
If the screen does not turn off when you place your phone close to your face during calls, the sensor may be faulty. Restart your phone and try again. If the problem persists, please back up your data and take your proof of purchase to a Huawei Customer Service Centre for further assistance. We will do our best to address your needs.
Check the ambient temperature
If your device automatically powers off or the screen turns black, the surrounding temperature may be too low or high. Wait for the device temperature to return to normal before using it again. It is recommended that you keep your device in environments where the temperature ranges from 1°C to 35°C, in order to avoid this issue and minimise battery drain.
Check whether a memory card (SD card) or NM card is installed
Remove and reinsert the memory card or NM card, and check whether the issue persists. If this resolves the issue, the card and device may not have previously been in proper contact. If the issue persists, the card may be damaged or incompatible with the device system.
Clear your device
- Close apps running in the background. Background apps consume RAM and other system resources, and running too many background apps can lead to malfunctions. It is recommended that you keep as few apps as possible running in the background.
- Clean up storage space. Insufficient storage space can undermine device performance. It is recommended that you use Optimiser/Tablet Manager to clean up the storage space on your device and uninstall any apps that you no longer use.
If the issue persists
If the issue remains unresolved or you encounter any difficulties, please contact the Huawei customer service hotline for assistance. We will do our best to address your needs.
