Enabling Tablet mode

Tablet mode is a feature launched by Microsoft for computers. It is the perfect choice when you do not want to use the keyboard or mouse.

If you are using a non-2-in-1 laptop, you can still use Tablet mode. However, you cannot use your laptop as a tablet laptop. For an ordinary computer (non-2-in-1 laptop), you can also enable Tablet mode in the Action centre. However, after you enable Tablet mode, you cannot use your computer in the same way as you use a tablet. For a 2-in-1 laptop with a touchscreen, you can use the computer with the touchscreen after Tablet mode is enabled, but you cannot separate the screen from the keyboard like you can with a tablet. If you are using a non-touchscreen computer, you can only use the mouse to control the screen after Tablet mode is enabled.

Perform the following steps:

Method 1: Click the Action Centre icon and then click Tablet Mode to switch to Tablet mode.

Method 2: Click > > > and set When I sign in to Keep the mode I last used.

  • In Tablet mode, touch the icon again and select Tablet mode to exit Tablet mode. Alternatively, use method 2 and set When I sign in to Never use Tablet mode. If you are unable to exit Tablet mode after several attempts, restart your computer or unplug your computer from a power supply.
