The HUAWEI FreeBuds/FreeLace and WATCH Buds earphones do not automatically reconnect or fail to reconnect

If your HUAWEI FreeBuds or FreeLace earphones do not automatically reconnect or fail to reconnect after you open the charging case, power them on, or separate them from each other, perform the following:

  1. Check the battery level of the earphones and ensure that the earphones are fully charged. If the earphones cannot be charged, see Unable to charge my FreeBuds series earphones or the charging case.clean Huawei wireless earphones

For the FreeBuds series TWS earphones, if the charging case that comes with the earphones or the earphones are out of battery, or the contact points on them are smudged, normal communications between the case and earphones will be affected. Use a cotton swab to gently wipe the metal contacts in the case and on the bottom part of the earphones so that the earphones are in good contact with the case. Then charge the earphones for more than 10 minutes. Follow the instructions to clean Huawei wireless earphones.

  2. Ensure that the Bluetooth earphones have been connected to your device before and Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Wait for 15 seconds and then open the charging case or separate the earphones from each other. If your earphones have never been connected to your device, follow the instructions to pair the HUAWEI FreeBuds and FreeLace Bluetooth earphones.

    • FreeLace earphones: They will automatically power off if they are attached to each other for more than 15 hours, or they have been disconnected for more than 15 hours. In this case, press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds to power on the earphones and have them reconnected.
    • Huawei sports Bluetooth earphones and HONOR xSport Bluetooth earphones: Press and hold the Function button for more than 4 seconds until the earphones enter Pairing mode (the indicator will flash red and blue in turn). The earphones will not automatically reconnect to your phone and you will need to initiate a connection on your phone.
  3. Place your device within 10 metres of the earphones.
  4. If you have switched between PrivateSpace and MainSpace on your device, disable and then enable Bluetooth in Settings, then touch the name of the earphones to reconnect to them, or unpair them and then pair them again.

If your device is a watch and the earphones do not reconnect to it, this is because watches will not accept any connection requests when they are connected to a phone. To connect to the earphones, touch their name on the watch.

If the earphones can be connected, follow the firmware and software update guide to update the earphones to the latest version. If the issue persists, take your earphones and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
